Wound Care in Long-Term Care
Prevent, identify, and manage wounds with confidence

Overview
Wound care is a critical part of long-term care, especially for residents with mobility issues, chronic conditions, or a history of pressure ulcers. This program provides essential knowledge and skills for preventing wounds, identifying early signs of skin breakdown, and applying effective interventions that reduce complications and improve healing outcomes.
Through interactive case scenarios, staff will learn how to recognize wound stages, follow proper dressing protocols, and implement facility-wide strategies to minimize risk — including turning schedules, moisture control, and nutrition support.
- High-risk residents: Learn how to protect residents with limited mobility or poor nutrition
- Hands-on wound care: Gain confidence identifying stages and applying dressings
- Prevention practices: Reinforce turning, positioning, and moisture control habits
