Overview
Caring for a loved one with dementia is a major life difficulty that includes emotional, physical, and psychological aspects. Our interactive dementia caregiver program is designed to provide support to caregivers, enabling them to deliver the best possible care while also maintaining their own well-being. This program blends interactive learning modules from real world examples with key concepts essential for adapting to the care of a loved one with dementia. Key components of the program include recognizing signs and symptoms of dementia and communication strategies for interacting with dementia patients. Environmental factors are addressed, such as adapting living environments for safety and comfort. The course is not intended to be a comprehensive course for dementia management, rather a practical guide to promoting physical activity, overall well being for the person with dementia. An important aspect of the program to to aid the caregiver to protect their own mental well being.
Course Objectives
  1. Understand Signs and Symptoms of Dementia: Gain a thorough understanding of dementia, including its stages, symptoms, and progression, to better anticipate and manage the challenges it presents.
  2. Identify caregiver skills to enable caregivers to better handle daily tasks, manage difficult behaviors, and ensure the safety and comfort of their loved ones.
  3. Learn communication techniques that will allow improved interaction with individuals living with dementia.
  4. Identify strategies to maintain their caregivers own physical and emotional health.
