K. David Bailey
Chief Nursing Officer
Dr. Bailey is the Chief Nursing Officer at UCLA Health – Santa Monica Medical Center, a Magnet with Distinction-designated institution. In addition to this role, Dr. Bailey serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the DNP Program at the UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing and as an Adjunct Professor at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve, where Dr. Bailey is a sought-after guest lecturer on leadership in healthcare.
A trailblazer in nursing leadership, Dr. Bailey was the first person from practice to serve as President of the Association for Leadership Science in Nursing, an international organization dedicated to advancing leadership science, research, and education for both academic and practice partners. Dr. Bailey also serves as a Board Member for WISE & Healthy Aging, supporting older adults across Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties, and is a member of Viven Health’s Nursing Advisory Board, promoting innovative simulated learning to improve health behaviors.
Holding a Ph.D. in nursing, Dr. Bailey is certified in critical care and executive nursing and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, and the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Bailey is a prolific author and peer reviewer for multiple professional journals, with research focused on how relational leadership practices drive positive outcomes for patients and staff.
